Edifice

Buildings have no stories to tell
The elders of advanced civilization
Everything that happens inside
Is held in the strictest of confidences
Illiterate trivialities enmeshed
Waning behind closed doors
Walls scored with histories
Very few want to tell
Tenement sobs obliterating the past
Standing there
Haunting to cry out
mute as wolves
Passing moons overhead
Helping them to decipher
Who comes and goes
